RE: Myrtle Beach-Carolina Opry vs. Alabama Theatre-which one?

have not tried the opry yet not sure why, but been to alabama theatre twice and legends 4 times... love them both, legends the best. And if you are staying at the state park, pirate land, lakewood or ocean lakes, legend in concert is like 5 minutes away or just down the road.

RE: Mt. Airy/Mayberry CG

This Mayberry area had such a nice feel (very wholesome) to it, we loved it. One of those places you could leave your keys in the ignition! Nice down home folks that own and run this park.
My wife is from Mt. Airy, so we visit every now and then. I can tell you once you get into Surry County (the county this is in), the folks are the nicest you've ever seen anywhere. Great comfy place to be, that's for sure.

RE: Greetings from Myrtle Beach Travel Park.

Hey DunDoneit, this will be my 3rd year at Lakewood. What do you want to know? I like going there. I have never had the good fortune of getting a site anywhere but here to test the others out. Lots of people like MB Travel Park because they do not have golf carts, and the other big 3 do. Initially I may have felt the same way until we rented one last year and had a blast.

RE: Greetings from Myrtle Beach Travel Park.

:h What is a b ring rig? I am not sure I understand what your talking about. We have been at the beach with the wind blowing at a constant 25-30 MPH. It is not fun, but it is manageable. You do have a hard time keeping a grille lit though. It is going to be hot all week here in the Carolinas. It's not supposed to cool down until Thursday.
I think he meant companies that bring rigs (campers) to set them up.. where you can rent a TT, etc.

RE: Greetings from Myrtle Beach Travel Park.

we are going to lakewood tomorrow until next Sunday. Can't wait. Was concerned about the TS, but looks like Myrtle got spared. Luckily it isn't one that sat there for days to ruin my vacation. Hope you have a great rest of your trip as well!!! I just love the beach.

RE: Inspection for entering tunnels

we went to virginia beach and had to go through the tunnels too. They have an area on the side for you to pull off and turn off any propane. We were never checked by anyone though. That was our first time being around that too, so we were wondering before going as I had read on here about it as well, but it ended up being nothing. And because of the "unknown", we stopped way before the tunnel to get gas and turned off everything there, which may be the best option when towing. I don't remember how big the turn off spot was.

RE: Jellystone Park Campground Marion NC

Yes, great place for kids for sure. No use to bring your bikes unless you are near the water. We stayed up the hill and just did no good having them. The sites on the hill are huge, wide and long, but full sun. The ones near the water are closer together. Anyway we paid like $33/night 2 years ago so hard paying $45 now plus the fact extra fee for slide, golf, etc, but they did have lots of free activities. They had an area with a big screen to play movies and they gave us free drinks/chips, so the fee probably covers a lot of that if they still do all that.
We really liked it there, and definitely would return. It was about 100 miles for us too. I just got sticker shocked on the nightly rate this year else we would've gone already.
Oh yea you do save 10% with the yogi club. We saved it with AAA, so that does help the price. Not sure if they still take AAA or not though.

RE: Holding Tank Tornado Questions

well my tornado was installed by the dealer before delivery as part of the deal. It spins constantly every sing time I have used it. The only time it leaks is when I turn the water off, but I had asked on another forum and they said it was the normal pressure relief.. It was clean water coming out.

RE: Caution: Myrtle Beach / Lakewood

Well, we like Lakewood.. and I admit I don't lock our bikes up at any campground, and when we leave I always wonder if anything got stolen on my way back.. If it is, then my fault, even though I will feel violated. My first trip to Lakewood I did lock up the bikes, but after you see how close you are to your neighbors and stuff, you sort of feel ok and comfortable not doing so. Maybe at night would be the best time to lock stuff up.
One other thing, I would prefer everybody dislike Lakewood so I can get a spot easier, so let's stop defending it. LOL

RE: Caution: Myrtle Beach / Lakewood

yea too bad it happened. I am sure the other campgrounds in MB have the same issues, just how mgmt deals with it. We have been to LW twice and never had any problems. Heading down in a few weeks too. Guess we'll lock the bikes and put the nice chair up if we leave just in case. Would be great if somebody had one of those security cameras and caught the theives.

RE: Campground in VA beach

yeah Holiday is the best I think. We rode through koa and I would never choose to stay there. We did drive to north landing beach and it is far away (like 20 miles I think) or so.. It was a small place, but had a lake or river or something on the side, so seemed nice.

RE: Knoxville to Myrtle Beach

From Knoxville, I-40 east to Ashville, NC
From Ashville, I-26 east to I-95,
I-95 North to and through Florence, SC.
I-95 Exit 170 onto 327 south to US 76.
Bear left on US 76. to US 501.
Stay on 501 to near Conway, SC. then merge onto SC 22.
SC 22 will take you to US 17.
At US 17, you will be able to go to Myrtle Beach or North Myrtle Beach.
If you need further details, like where to buy fuel or gas, PM me.
Yep this is probably the best way to go. I40 over NC mountains to Asheville though are winding, so just take it slow and you'll be ok.
The only thing I would add is if you are staying south Myrtle at those campgrounds, take 22 to 31 south to 544 instead of 17.

RE: Future to TC with high fuel cost?

Movein,
Not a good setup? We camp with two families in TCs, one with 2 teens and (at one time) 5 dogs - 3 border collies, 1 yellow lab and one pom, the other had three yonger teens and 2 dogs. Neither would consider camping any other way.
I'm sorry, I guess it is just hard for me to imagine. I take it you just go to campgrounds and not travel all the time then with that setup? What happens when like last Easter we go camping in Virginia and the entire 3 days of camping it was in the 30's and the wind was blowing and it was miserable being outside? Oh and it snowed. I don't camp when it is that cold usually and the day we arrived it was in the 60's. I did not think it would be that cold or I would've cancelled, but once we got there we made due, although looking back on it we should've headed home.
Don't get me wrong, I have been in TC's and I love them. Like the one poster said you can take boats with you much easier and maneuver around better. Yeah most of the time camping is for the outdoors and you don't have to worry about room, but then there are the days you do. Plus we fight alot. :B

RE: Future to TC with high fuel cost?

Yep I have a TT and to me a TC makes more sense too regarding gas mileage, and even moving around easier. I went to my grandparents for Christmas. We have a big family so sometimes no room to sleep, etc. They live in the valley of a mountain, with very thin roads and lots of hills. This past year I wondered if I could've pulled the TT so my family could sleep in there. Fact is there is no way I could get the TT in their yard much less to the location. A TC would solve this. Only thing a TC is not setup good for 4 people, a dog and a cat, unless the weather always cooperates or like some say if you are always traveling. So until the kids are grown it is out of the question for us.
